If you want to lead better in Q2… ask better questions – here are my favorite three.
As Q1 comes to a close, pause for a moment.
Look around.
Oil, gas, and food prices are up.
The job market feels uneven.
I have friends… talented leaders… who have been out of work longer than expected.
And the noise?
It’s everywhere.
Politically. Economically. Globally.
And whether your team is talking about it or not…
They feel it.
They’re carrying it into meetings.
Into decisions.
Into their energy.
Every single day.
And in moments like this, most leaders default to what they know:
  • Push harder
  • Drive results
  • Tighten expectations
More pressure.
But let’s be honest…
That’s not what your people need right now.
They need you to be a center of calm.
Not reactive.
Not rushed.
Present.
This is where leadership gets real.
Not in your strategy.
Not in your execution.
In how you show up.
If you want to lead differently in Q2, start here:
Don’t open with status.
Don’t jump straight into metrics.
Pause.
And ask better questions.
Try this:
  • What’s been weighing on you lately that I might not be seeing?
  • What do you need right now to feel more supported?
  • Where might I be making things harder than they need to be?
And then…
Be quiet long enough to hear the real answer.
Because in a year like this…
Your people don’t need more direction.
They need to feel supported.
And they need a leader who is willing to slow down long enough to truly see them.
Pause. Reflect. Calibrate.
Not just your plan.
How you show up.
